Help the Turtles

Join Oat & Mill in our efforts to help Canada’s freshwater turtles!

At Oat & Mill, as a Canadian company we feel deeply connected to the Canadian wildlife who inhabit this great wilderness with us. So when we learned that turtles in Canada - particularly Ontario - are at risk, we knew we had to do something to help them.

We are deeply concerned about the welfare of turtles in Ontario and across Canada, and we believe that an important way that we can help them is by supporting the Canadian Wildlife Federation’s turtle rehabilitation and research programs. In order to support this incredible conservation work, we have created a special ice cream flavour called Turtle Crossing. For every pint purchased, we contribute a portion of the sales to sustain the Canadian Wildlife Federation’s efforts to protect freshwater Canadian turtles.

The Canadian Wildlife Federation has been working with regional partners, community groups, lake associations and individuals to reduce risks to turtles. For more information on their efforts, and to learn more about turtles, please visit

How You Can Help

All freshwater turtle species found in Canada are listed as species at risk. For every Turtle Crossing sold you're helping support research and protection of turtles and their habitat. Thank you!

Turtle Crossing Ice Cream

This flavour has a creamy vanilla base with pockets of toasted pecan pralines and dark chocolate chunks. Our vanilla oat ice cream has been carefully aged overnight for the best possible flavour and texture, while the pecans are pralined with a heat, sugar, nuts, salt, and constant heat in motion. They are crunchy and delightful! And last, but definitely not least, our dark chocolate is fair traded.

To purchase a few pints for you and your friends (or yourself, we totally understand), you can find Turtle Crossing ice cream here . Thank you!
